How To Become a Success With Affiliate Marketing

Contrary to popular belief, there are only three real ways to make money online: Selling your own products or service; Network Marketing; or Affiliate Marketing. Of course if you count gambling that's four, but let's stick to non-addictive activities.

Affiliate Marketing is certainly a great way to make cash online and has become a popular choice for those looking to ditch the day job and start working from home. But unfortunately it's extremely competitive, and so in order to be successful, you have to understand the needs of the market, learn to promote products, and what works or doesn't work.

How to get started

1. Choose a niche, or multiple niches if you want. As an affiliate marketer you are matching products with customers, so don't sell beef to vegetarians - they won't buy it.

2. It's important that the affiliate program is reputable and must pay a decent commission for each sale. Most programs pay 10-40% commissions, but in the last couple of years many programs, especially in home business niche, have started paying 100% commissions. I would rather sell 4 products at $200 than 100 products at $20. The program should pay you regularly so that you can earn a decent income.

3. Change your perception. Many people have this idea that it's very easy to make money online... There is the stereo-type of the online marketer hanging around the house in their pajamas earning money effortlessly. This idea also plays into the hands of opportunistic marketers who use this claim to bait easy prey. They sell this idea to unsuspecting potential customers who then become disillusioned when they haven't made thousands on autopilot after 1 week! Change your perception!

Like any business an online business is hard work. The 'money on auto-pilot' phrase comes from the more experienced online marketers and affiliate marketers. After putting in the hard work up front - learning and training, driving traffic and establishing working relationship, these established marketers certainly work far fewer hours. Why? Because they make residual income from the ASSET they have built. Your online business is an Asset that you must build.

So as an affiliate marketer you need to work hard and be dedicated in order to build the successful business that you crave.

4. Start with a good marketing system and training programme. No successful marketer has ever achieved anything without training, tools, systems and support. The most expensive word in online marketing is FREE... because it will cost you a lot more in the long run.

An online business is the cheapest business you can buy/start, but it's not free. You must enable yourself with quality systems and training and have the mindset of a true successful entrepreneur. If you do this then failure is no longer an option for you.

How to Add a Facebook Badge Or Fan Box to Your WordPress Blog

With over 500 million registered users on Facebook, it's somewhere you want to be! Encourage your website visitors to become friends with you, or like your fan page, by adding a Facebook Badge or Fan Box to Your WordPress blog with these two easy steps.

1) Get your code from Facebook.

To create a badge, start on your profile page. Scroll down to where the left side column ends and you'll see a "Create a Profile Badge" link. Click that link. On the new page, you'll see several options on the left:

Profile Badge - this will show your photo, name, and other information you choose from your personal profile.
Like Badge - this will allow you to promote any page that you're a fan of with a like badge.
Photo Badge - this one lets you share photos from your personal profile.
Page Badge - to promote your fan page, choose this badge and it will show your fan page title, the latest status update, photo, and number of fans.

Choose which badge you'd like to create and follow the steps through to the end where you'll get a snippet of code. Copy that snippet of code.

If you'd like to create a fan box instead that shows your fan page, status updates, and pictures of your fans, you can do that by starting athttp://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box

Tip: to find your Facebook fan page's unique ID go to your fan page, right-click on your logo on the top left, and choose "Show Properties" or "Properties." In the info box that comes up, look at the URL or address of the link. At the end of the URL you'll see something like &id=1234567890 That number is your fan page's ID.

Enter your information, customize the settings and click "Get Code" to see your code. Copy the code in the iframe option.

2) Put your code in a widget on your blog.

Next find the "Text" widget option in the widget boxes in the middle area of the page. Grab it and drag it into the sidebar widget column.

Now open that widget and paste your snippet of code from Facebook into the box.

Save your widget.

Go to your website and make sure it's displaying properly. If not, double check that the code you copied is correct and save again.

And that's it! Your new Facebook badge or fan box will display in the widget you created.
